The baby is coming!

Well the time has come for Emerson to be introduced to the world.

Melissa was admitted to the hospital again on Thursday, 9/5. She was previously admitted last week and kept for 24 hour monitoring. The reason for the admittance was due to low amniotic fluid and the cord blood flow being absent. They gave her steroids the first time she was admitted and that improved the fluid and cord blood flow. This time the steroids did not improve things so the doctor believes he would do better coming out. They have been constantly monitoring the baby and everyone says he is doing well. All of the nurses, doctors and midwives are taking very good care of Melissa and the baby.

A cesarian section has been scheduled for Monday morning, 9/9. The doctors have decided it would be best to perform a cesarian section. This way there will not be any stress on the baby. Melissa is currently 32 weeks pregnant and the outcome for babies delivered at this stage is very high.

Once the baby is born he will be taken to the NICU almost immediately so they can take care of any issues. The family should be able to see him within a couple hours as long as things are going well.

Melissa and I are both relieved to finally be delivering. We wish the baby would of made it full term, but we must do what's best. This pregnancy has been a rocky road filled with tons of stress and emotion. We very much appreciate all the support and love that has been sent our way.
