We have great news to report tonight - Emerson has officially reached 1 lb gained!!!! I guess increasing his calories this week really did give him a little extra umph :)

Grant and I squeezed in a little yearly tradition on the way to the hospital today. We stopped at the Cider Mill! Not our Yates or Blakes Cider Mill, but Franklin Cider Mill. While the donuts and cider were still yummie....it just didn't have the same all around experience. Missed all the apple treats, the hiking trails, the animals, the hayrides...well you get the point. :p And I learned tonight that the apples at Franklin Cider Mill are bought from another cider mill! The Horror! I also learned that Saginaw is the place to go for thee best Cider Mill. Right Tammy and Angela? :)

Sorry Franklin Cider Mill, I don't mean to hate on you. Your donuts and cider was still delicious! I'll be sure to thank Erwin Apple Orchard. Hahahahaha

Back to Emerson...I can't wait to make make memories with him at the Cider Mill next year!

When we arrived at the hospital, Anne, the daytime nurse, said Emerson was having a great day. She also was said how she can really see his improvement in feedings, his suck is getting stronger. :) She changed him into this cute duckie sleeper we brought. You have to check out the adorable pictures :)

At 5pm, the nurses got a little busy with two other babies in the nursery. Anne asked us if we were okay with taking Emerson's temperature, changing diaper, getting his bottle ready, and feeding him. No problem! So we jumped right in. Daddy has been letting me do most of Emerson's feeding, and now that I am comfortable it is time to return the favor :) So daddy was up! The last time daddy fed Emerson he was being a little stubborn. But not this time. Emerson sucked that bottle right down. Towards the end Emerson's suck was so tight that when daddy went to take the bottle out of Emerson's mouth, it didn't move. Wow, have we come a long way! YAY to Emerson taking his first full feeding from daddy! Grant and I almost got 4 out of 4 in the tasks Anne left us, but Anne confirmed his feeding should have been 29cc. We fed Emerson's 31cc. Oops! He didn't have an issue taking the extra 2cc. So daddy got his first full feeding and than some. Go Daddy! After that it only took but a few rocks till he was fast asleep in my arms <3

Emerson's weigh in time had come up! He was so close to 2lbs 12 oz, which would be one pound gained since birth. We anxiously waited to see what the scale said, and Angela even joined us for the weigh in :) Baby boy gained 35 grams! Well hello there 2lb 12 oz! So excited to reach this milestone :)

Tammy was Emerson's nurse tonight. Emerson had some yellow discharge in his eyes, and Tammy explained that its from a clogged tear duct. She showed us how to clean his eye, and we should do that a couple times a day if we notice discharge. She also said that yellow discharge is ok, but if it turns green than we need to be concerned. Tammy also changed Emerson's leads - they were pulling on his skin and his sensitive skin was really irritated. She told us that if we notice the leads not laying flat, and pulling down to have one of the nurses change them. Love our nurses endless guidance, gives us a little more confidence each day!

Our 8pm feeding went great! A little bit of breast milk, formula, and vitamins all finished in 20 minutes. We even got three good burps in to! Lately I have had a hard time getting Emerson to burp, or they are so quiet I almost miss them!

We brought in one of Emerson's stuffed animals, a giraffee. One of the nurses, Michelle, said we should bring one in to compare Emerson's size. The giraffe was a perfect size, same as Emerson! We took some pictures and Emerson loved the girafee. He actually rubbed his forehead on the giraffe, and put his arm up and almost around it. The arm might have been a conciendence. But he really was loving the texture of the girafee. Adorable!

I ended the night with some last minute snuggles, reading Emerson Good Night Moon while Grant changed Emerson's bedding. He put fresh bedding on that included a Dr. Seuss blanket made by my dear friend Tracy :)

Sleep Tight Baby Boy!
