I was a little anxious about today that I was wide awake at 6:30am! I had a lot to accomplish before heading up to the hospital, so probably was a good thing I was up earlier than expected.

I did a Babies-R-Us run for all the last minute things we needed. It was a little overwhelming...but when isn't Babies-R-Us, right? Im pretty sure I got all the essentials we need for a couple weeks. You really don't think about all the little things you will need with a newborn!

A few labor and delivery nurses were in the nursery when we arrived. Debbie, was the nurse taking care of Emerson. She said he has been doing good. Took all of his feedings but one, and has just been sleeping most of the day. She did have news from the night nurses for us, and that fussiness that we had the night before with Emerson's feeding was due to a big bowel movement. LOL Glad to hear! Dr. Dewer stopped by and had great news for us. Emerson passed his hearing test! YAY! He also said, Emerson is almost ready to go home. I would say one more day before he's discharged. :)

A little bit later, Debbie, the special care nurse, came in. I hadn't heard anything about the consent form for Emerson's circumsion, so she looked into that for us. She said someone should bring it up to us later. She started talking about the potential discharge with us and answered any questions we had.

Emerson's feedings went well today. We fed him at 5 and at 8, and he had no issues with the 30cc. Debbie said that I got him to take more than the labor and delivery nurse could. That was a nice little boost of confidence. We will be all right Emerson!

One of the OB's, Dr. Simon, came in to check Emerson to see if he was big enough to be circumcised. She said he was and had us sign the consent forms. She said she could get the procedure down tonight and would be back for him at 9pm. He would go under local anesthesia for the procedure. All I kept thinking was my poor little guy. But Angela reassured me that if he needed cuddling all night, thats what she would do :) Later in the night, Angela would also do his car seat test. He would sit in the car seat for an hour, still hooked up to his monitors, to make sure his breathing and heart rate were stable in that sitting up position for the length of a car ride.

Emerson is getting pictures taken tomorrow, so Grant and I gave him a little sponge bath. Poor guy has my sensitive skin. Redness everywhere! We asked Angela what we should put on it and she said any lotion that doesn't have alcohol in it would work great.

The time had arrived - weight time! Grant and I anxiously stared at the scale as it calculated Emerson's weight......1760 grams! We cheered! Looks like Emerson is coming home :) Way to go buddy - you passed 1750 up like it was nobody's business!

We brought in a Halloween onesie tonight because Michelle was bringing in a whole fall Halloween set up to take pictures! YAY! It was adorable, a little basket, some fake leaves, and a little pumpkin stuffed animal. The blanket we brought in a few days ago had the perfect colors to put underneath the props. We took a few pictures of Emerson in the basket, he fit perfectly! There was a pumpkin on the onesie butt, so we took some tummy down pictures. Adorable! And than used the boppy underneath the blanket to prop him up for some other poses. To cute!! Thank you Michelle and Angela!

We took off shortly after Emerson's weigh in. So sad to say goodbye to the night nurses! With Emerson being discharged tomorrow, most likely we will not see them again. We gave them both big hugs and thanked them for all they have done! Such a bittersweet moment, we will definitely have to come up for a visit from time to time!

On our way home from the hospital we stopped and did a big grocery shopping trip. Best time to go shopping is 10 at night! LOL We should be good for the month now. Looks like we are just about ready Baby Emerson!!
